THE ROLE & WHY IT EXISTS
Gravitee.io is taking APIs to the next level — we are the premier, open source API platform and we want everyone to know how amazing our software is. To make this happen, we are looking for someone passionate, curious and ambitious. This is where you come in.
We are currently recruiting for a Director of Solutions Engineering to set the vision, strategy and provide the right coaching, guidance, and process for making our Solutions Engineering team the best-equipped team in the market to help with this.
At Gravitee, helping companies solve their problems and challenges is why we exist. Our Solutions Engineering team plays a vital role in ensuring customers and prospective buyers have the right advice and support to find the solutions, tools, and processes to become successful.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Your daily to-do list will feature some or all of the following, but is not limited to:
- Growing the Team Globally: As Gravitee continues to grow, you will be responsible for scaling the Solutions Engineering team across regions, hiring, onboarding, and setting up the right structures to support this growth.
- Supporting the Team to Win: Provide guidance and support to the team, helping them engage with customers effectively to understand their needs, present tailored solutions, and ultimately close deals.
- Process Optimization: Refine and implement best practices for Solutions Engineering, ensuring the team operates efficiently and effectively.
- Coaching and Career Progression: Actively mentor and support team members to grow in their careers, providing ongoing feedback, training, and development opportunities.
- Alignment with Other Teams: Collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Product Marketing, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to ensure Solutions Engineering is well-aligned with company goals.
- Meeting Goals: Lead the team in hitting targets, ensuring success across key performance metrics.
- Content Creation and Communication: Excellent writing and speaking skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling content, present at conferences, and engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS The right candidate will possess at least the following skills, if not more:
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in B2B technologies for developers or other technical personas
- Structured: Ability to implement structured processes that optimize team effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to build strong relationships across departments and align teams to achieve shared objectives.
- Team Leadership: Experience in leading and mentoring teams. If not as a manager, at least by having led by example.
DESIRED SKILLS - Additionally, these skills are not required, but preferable
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the API management industry and related technologies, including event-streaming systems like Kafka.
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of sales oriented technical professionals.
- Automation and AI: Experience leveraging automation and AI technologies to streamline processes and improve team productivity.
