The Role & Why It Exists

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer who can build robust APIs and intuitive frontend experiences that help our customers understand their data and make better decisions.

This is a genuinely full-stack role. You’ll be comfortable moving between backend and frontend development. Beyond writing code, we’re looking for someone with the engineering judgement expected of a senior developer. Someone who can understand existing architecture, review code effectively, make thoughtful technical decisions, and take ownership of code quality.

What You Will Be Doing

At Gravitee, impact isn't abstract, it's visible. In this role, you will:

  • Develop new features end-to-end — from design to implementation, building the APIs and the frontend interfaces and visualizations they power

  • Build UI experiences for Gravitee's AI-related products, including AI Gateway management, agent monitoring, and MCP configuration interfaces

  • Contribute to both our open-source platform and Enterprise Edition

  • Use LLMs and AI coding assistants (such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar) as a core part of your engineering workflow — for rapid prototyping, code generation, testing, and debugging across the full stack

  • Write automated tests to ensure code quality, leveraging AI-assisted testing tools where appropriate

  • Apply engineering judgement to validate and refine AI-generated outputs, understanding that AI augments but does not replace solid engineering fundamentals

  • Collaborate with other engineers and technical leaders to discover the best solutions, and support colleagues through code and design review

  • Stay curious about how AI capabilities intersect with API management, and contribute ideas for AI-powered features

Essential Skills

The right candidate will possess at least the following skills:

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience building full-stack enterprise web applications

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java 17+ and React languages

  • Genuine full-stack experience, with the ability and willingness to work across both backend and frontend development

  • Strong experience designing, developing, and working with REST/RESTful APIs

  • Experience with MongoDB, JDBC, or other relational/database technologies

  • Solid understanding of backend architecture, API design, and modern software engineering principles

  • Experience with database technologies and data modelling, with the ability to understand and work confidently with database-backed applications

  • Strong code-review skills and a track record of taking ownership of code quality

  • Ability to understand existing architecture and assess the wider impact of code changes rather than working on features in isolation

  • Experience with automated testing, Git/GitHub workflows, and agile software development

  • Hands-on experience using LLMs and AI coding assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar as part of your engineering workflow

  • Strong judgement when working with AI-generated code. You should be able to understand, validate, correct, and improve generated outputs rather than relying on AI to replace your underlying technical knowledge

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

  • A curious, adaptable mindset and the ability to learn unfamiliar areas of a complex technical platform

Desired Skills

Additionally, these skills are not required but preferable:

  • Experience with Angular

  • Experience with Vert.x

  • Knowledge of API management or experience working with API management platforms such as Gravitee, Apigee, MuleSoft, or similar

  • Experience with Docker

  • Experience with Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of Kafka, event streaming, or event-driven architectures

  • Familiarity with OAuth2 and OpenID Connect

  • Experience building or testing AI-powered products, LLM-based applications, RAG systems, or agentic workflows

  • Familiarity with MCP, AI gateways, or related AI infrastructure concepts

  • Relevant technical certifications or evidence of continued technical learning
